Connecting SMS-only field devices to the dashboard

Public and private sector references are available on request.

Situation: The data loggers in the field talk only over SMS and cannot read UCS-2 (Turkish-character) messages.
Solution: We built a cellular gateway. Commands go in GSM-7, which the loggers can read; Turkish text goes as UCS-2. The gateway was registered on the loggers as an authorised number.
Field note: A separate supply line for the modem, with automatic recovery from voltage dips.
Result: Command from the dashboard → SMS → logger → reply: verified in the field (August 2026).
